Polished Oosthuizen Ready For World Title Shot!
(By Terry Pettifer - goldengloves.co.za)

April 28th, 2010

Boxer fell in love with snakes at school WBA Pan African super middleweight champion Tommy “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen is ready for a crack at the IBO world title! This much was evident after the 21-year-old South African’s 8th round destruction of Mexico’s Saul Roman at Emperors Palace last night! With arrogance and venom aforethought, Oosthuizen finally showed while he’s rated as one of this country’s most exciting talent’s in the past 25 years. Make no mistake the big-hearted Roman came to fight and he exploded several punches on Oosthuizen’s –until now- untested chin! Yet the South African contemptuously shook off those blows, especially during the fifth round when he endured a number of telling shots to the head, and responded with some cracking punches of his own. It said much for the 32-year-old Mexican’s heart and resilience that he absorbed the best that Oosthuizen had to offer during the first six rounds, yet one sensed that it was only a matter of time before the rugged Hispanic folded and after a particularly hard left to the head registered bingo, the Tommy Gun applied the match-winning come-uppance soon after.

“Tommy’s ready for a crack at the vacant IBO world title” said an excited Golden Gloves Promoter Rodney Berman, who had earlier watched two of his aspiring young stars; Flo Simba and Johnny Muller, score impressive victories! “For the first time in his career, Tommy really looked the polished all-round fighter that his coach Harold Volbrecht has always said he is and we’ll certainly be working at securing him a tilt at the IBO world title within the next five months. I haven’t seen a more calculated and remorseless finisher since the days of Charlie Weir!”
