Roy Jones Jr Lands in Sydney
(By Craig Watt -

September 29, 2009

Legendary 8 time world champion Roy Jones Jr landed at Sydney airport this morning after a 15 hour flight from the US and was greeted by a number of excited fans, looking forward to his December 2nd clash with Australian hero Danny Green for the IBO title at the Acer Arena in Sydney. Jones is in Australia for two weeks on an organized press tour and will take in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane over the next ten days.

On Friday he will take part in a charity telethon at the Perth Convention Centre in Western Australia to meet fans and have a question and answer session on stage. He is also a guest at the NRL Grand Final in Sydney on Sunday between the Parramatta Eels, where Danny Green trains and the Melbourne Storm which held up the sold out signs today with the last of the 80,000 tickets sold. Both Green and Jones Jr will be presented to the crowd at half time of the final on Sunday.

To add to the spice and rivalry with Green, Jones entered Sydney International Airport sporting a Melbourne Storm replica jersey. At the airport he told fans, “I have come to the home of Danny Green to promote our fight on December 2nd which is labelled as the biggest fight in the history of boxing here in Australia. I hope the fans like Roy Jones but if they don’t I am here to do a job and take Danny’s IBO Cruiserweight Title- the only weight division I am missing.”
