Hatton v N’Dou is on contrary to internet rumours
October 9, 2009
Matthew Hatton’s challenge for the IBO welterweight title against Lovemore N’Dou has not been postponed or cancelled and will go ahead as planned on November 13 in Stoke on Trent.
Rumours have circulated online recently that N’Dou has pulled out because of a cut sustained in training, but Hatton Promotions have issued a statement to quell any uncertainty and clarify the fight will go ahead.
N’Dou did indeed receive a cut in training, but a medical examination has ruled that it will not prevent him from fighting.
Hatton expressed his frustration at the rumours: “I have been training hard for this fight so I was disappointed when I heard rumours that Lovemore may be pulling out.
“In the last six months I have accepted fights against Zab Judah and Kell Brooks, which fell through because Zab changed his mind and wanted me to fight at light welterweight and Kell’s team were demanding options on me which my promoters were not prepared to give.
“I have the confidence in my team and I am relieved that the fight will go ahead as planned. I am looking forward to the fight and I am confident that come the 13th November, I will realise my dream of becoming a world champion.”
Hatton’s brother Ricky is happy to keep in it in the family for his first world title promotion.
“This will be my first world title fight as a promoter and what better way to start than with your own brother. I have had great support from the people of Stoke and am looking forward to going back for what will be a great night of boxing.”
Gareth Williams from Hatton Promotions also commented on the exciting night of boxing: “We have had tremendous interest in this fight and we are expecting a sellout crowd.
He continued: “We have a great undercard featuring Rob Norton defending his British and Commonwealth titles, Darren McDermott defending his English title against exciting young Bristol fighter Danny Butler. Local favourite Scott Lawton will also fight Derry Matthews in a real 50/50 fight.”
